Travelling from West or Southwest areas of Britain take the M6 motorway as far as Carlisle, then North of carlisle join the A7, continue on this road to the A720 ( Edinburgh by-pass ) ,travel East along the A720 and then directions are as below for A1 ( South ), etc. From West & North Scotland head for the Edinburgh by-pass ( A720 ) travel East until the Sherrifhall Roundabout ( North of Dalkeith ), continue East along the A 720 to the next roundabout turn right onto the A1 ( South ), follow this road as far as the Bankton Junction then follow signs to Longniddry then Aberlady ( A198 ).
